What are the differences between SPC flooring and ordinary laminate flooring/multi-layer laminate flooring? Which one is better?
What are the differences between SPC flooring and ordinary laminate flooring/multi-layer laminate flooring? Which one is better?
Different core materials:
The core of SPC is stone powder + plastic, which is extremely hard and waterproof. The core of the reinforced composite is high-density fiberboard (afraid of water immersion). The core of the multi-layer composite is solid wood thin sheets (which are afraid of moisture and water).
Water resistance:
SPC wins completely! It's truly not afraid of blisters. Reinforced composites and multi-layer composites will expand and get damaged when exposed to water.
Stability:
SPC has extremely small thermal expansion and contraction and is the most stable. Reinforcement and compounding come second. The stability of multi-layer composite depends on the solid wood layer.
Foot feel:
SPC is the hardest (like ceramic tiles). The reinforced composite is slightly hard. Multi-layer composite is closer to solid wood and has a better feel underfoot.
Applicable area:
SPC can be applied throughout the entire house (including the wet areas of the kitchen and bathroom). Reinforced composite and multi-layer composite are not recommended to be laid in damp areas such as kitchens and bathrooms.
Price:
Generally, SPC > good strengthened composite ≈ multi-layer composite > ordinary strengthened composite.
Which one is better? It depends on the demand! For absolute waterproofing, super stability, floor heating, and high-traffic areas, choose SPC. If you prefer the feel and texture of solid wood underfoot and the environment is dry, choose multi-layer composite. With a very limited budget and no concerns about water, choose the enhanced composite.
