Is solid wood composite flooring pure solid wood? Is it considered solid wood flooring?

1. If the name contains both "solid wood" and "composite", does it really count as solid wood? The price is much lower than that of pure solid wood. Is it a more cost-effective "solid wood" option? What are the differences between it and the laminate flooring mentioned above?

It is not pure solid wood flooring, but it is a branch of solid wood flooring.

Solid wood flooring: Consistent inside and out, the entire floor is made of solid wood of a single tree species.

Solid wood composite flooring: It is also a multi-layer structure (usually 3 or more layers), but the most crucial surface layer (top layer) is solid wood veneer, with a thickness ranging from 0.6mm to 4mm or even thicker. The following layers (base material layers) are usually made by crisscrossing and bonding cheaper softwood, fast-growing wood or plywood together, and the bottom layer is also made of solid wood or a balance layer.

2. Does it count as "solid wood flooring"? In a broad classification, it is often placed under the category of "solid wood flooring" (as the surface layer is solid wood) to distinguish it from laminate (laminated) flooring and stone plastic flooring such as SPC/WPC. But strictly speaking, it does not equal "pure solid wood flooring/all-solid wood flooring". Its core value lies in the genuine solid wood surface layer, which provides the texture and feel of natural wood, while the structure is more stable (less prone to deformation than pure solid wood).

3. The difference from reinforced composite: The biggest difference lies in the surface material. The surface layer of solid wood composite is genuine wood, while the surface layer of reinforced composite is a plastic resin wear-resistant layer that imitates wood grain. Therefore, the foot feel and texture realism of solid wood composite are closer to those of pure solid wood, but its surface hardness, wear resistance and price are usually lower than those of laminate composite flooring of the same grade.
